InterContinental Barclay

New York City - 2016

A place of generations

The InterContinental Barclay, Manhattan’s preeminent luxury hotel built by the Vanderbilts, underwent the most ambitious restoration in its history recently to meet the needs of today’s business travellers. HOK designers asked us at Q & C to produce the majority of the lobby’s furniture, that even became a finalist in the 2016 SBID Design Awards. For the guest rooms in this amazing hospitality experience, we delivered more than 500 wing chairs, carefully customized with elegant fabrics, tufting and wood finishes. The redesign was inspired by elements from the property’s past, finding expression in over 20 especially crafted details like nailheads, metal accessories, and fabrics for a variety of sofas, benches, wing and side chairs.
